Getting a traditional Sak Yant bamboo tattoo in Thailand can be a lasting reminder of your adventures in South East Asia – but figuring out where to get one, making sure its safe and trying to experience the cultural of such a meaningful piece of ink can be a minefield to navigate.

But this Sak Yant Tattoo Experience by our buddies at Where Sidewalks End takes all the hassle and worry out of getting your traditional bamboo tattoo.

Taking into account the local traditions and cultural significance of the process and the need for proper sterilisation they’ve put together an immersive, cultural experience.

You’ll join one of their expert local guides who will travel with you to Bang Chak in rural Bangkok where you’ll meet one of their trusted Ajarns – a tattoo master – who will talk you through this sacred experience and help you pick the yantra (Sak Yant design) which best represents the protection you are seeking.

The traditional ceremony before last around 15 minutes and the tattooing itself last between 15 minute and 4 hours depending on your design and the detail within it.

Following the tattoos blessing you’ll head off to a local market for a well deserved meal before your guide drops you back at your Bangkok accommodation.

Where Sidewalks End have been crafting unique cultural tours in Thailand and South East Asia for over 5 years – so you’re in safe hands!
